Chief Financial Officer
A senior leadership, full-time exempt position that manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting/Finance and Operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, directing work, and addressing/ resolving accounting issues. Ensures that all accounting and fiscal activities are adhering to internal controls, meeting established schedules, and are compliant with government regulations, grants and contracts, and private payer policies. The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the performance of all Finance Department staff.
The Chief Financial Officer is an engaged and active member in the Senior Leadership team who works closely with other program supervisors and Agency Boards and Committee members. Job Responsibilities:
- Lead treasury management activities, including cash flow management and investment strategies.
- Oversee revenue cycle management to maximize profitability and minimize risk.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies.
- Assist with developing the annual operating budget in partnership with organizational leadership.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, financial packages, and other informational reports/analyses. Through account analysis, variance analysis, journal entries, and internal controls, prepares detailed financial statements to accurately reflect the monthly operating results.
- Coordinate and manage all financial audits.
- Work directly with assigned committee(s) of the Boards and provide financial reports as appropriate.
- Ensure financial management of grants and timely submission of reports.
- Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, brokerage firms, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies.
- Review, update, and/or develop internal control systems.
- Monitors, manages and coordinates the purchasing of including technology, equipment, vehicles, furnishings, office space and real estate.
- Develop policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduced operating costs, and increased revenues.
- Supervise finance staff and is responsible for performance management and professional development.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; an MBA or professional certification (e.g., CPA) is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience working in accounting, Finance or related field is required.
- Strong nonprofit background preferred.
- Minimum of three years managerial experience and relevant practical experience in accounting and superior working knowledge of computers.
- Must be skilled at interpreting financial analysis and performance information; preparing grants, budgets and reports; using electronic spreadsheets and ability to manipulate data within proprietary and acquired databases
- Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting, revenue cycle management, and risk analysis.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Skills in MIP and ABILA program a plus.
- Experience working with electronic billing systems preferred; Foothold Technology AWARDS a plus.
- Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively including strong verbal and written communications skills; customer service oriented, with ability to engage professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff and stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work across a wide range of high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership skills include the ability to delegate, motivate, and inspire team members and experience in effectively managing a staff team.
